Belcar: Belcar Masters, Zolder /Belgium, 22nd-23rd October 2005 Hückelhoven/Zolder. Mario Josten is the newly crowned 2005 Belcar Champion (TB). "For the 18-year-old German, second place in the final of the Belgian Touring Car Championship held at the Zolder circuit in Belgium was the last step towards the biggest success in his career so far. Four wins and a further podium finish paved the way for the title. “I’m looking back on a tremendous season," Josten said. Born in Hückelhoven on 25th August 1987, young Mario showed early signs of his burgeoning talent and was already racing go-karts at the age of seven. After his karting career he competed in the Formula BMW ADAC Championship for two years. Josten made his touring car debut in 2005, driving a 400 bhp BMW M3 for German team GS Motorsport. “Mario’s first year has come to a very satisfying conclusion. It was an exciting 2005 Belcar season,” commented team director Georg Severich, a former DTM and STW driver. Josten also clinched the Rookie Cup title. The youngster from North-Rhine Westphalia punched the air in victory and beamed all over as he was congratulated in Zolder. “A brilliant season,” Josten summed up. " |
